Ramy Abu-Yousef
Ramy, famous for a laugh that can be heard city-wide, is extremely passionate about sandwiches. However, if truth be told, he actually opened up Johnny Barr's as an excessively expensive excuse to purchase a commercial deli slicer, his long time dream.
Born in a small Midwestern US, corn fed town in Iowa, Ramy began his professional career as a lawyer. During the 7 years that he practiced law in Los Angeles, he developed a strong passion for food and an equally strong dislike for the office.
One day, Ramy decided to travel to New Zealand for an adventure and his short term trip quickly became a long term destination, where he quickly honed his skills as a chef, ditched the practice of law and became the head chef of a fine dining restaurant in Queenstown.
Amidst the craziness, Ramy started a restaurant consulting company (http://r-innovations.com/) and decided that after making excellent quality food for top clients, he actually wanted to make the same caliber food at a much more reasonable price...and thus the dream of Johnny Barr's was born [enter the deli slicer].
FAVE SAMMY: The Philly Cheesesteak. (but he loves 'em ALL)
STACHE STATUS: Solid. Ramy has been growing his mo' for over two months in anticipation of the shop opening. Usually one to rock the 'handlebar', he's currently experimenting with alternative shapes.
Everyone at Johnny Barr's loves a great moustache (fake mo's equally encouraged) and we're also all serious sandwich connoisseurs. Our crew is highly trained in having a SUPER time, making fantastic sandwiches, salads, soups and smoothies and spreading the word of the stache. We're so much more than just Queenstown takeaway!
